Josephine Jackson Champion was born on February 13, 1943, to the late Ollie and Camma Jackson. She was the oldest of two daughters. Josephine was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 1, 2018.
Josephine graduated from Union Central High School in Brownsville, Louisiana, where she enjoyed singing in the choir. Josephine continued her education at Erma Hughes Business College in Houston, Texas. She was employed with various occupations throughout her life. Her last place of employment was with Texas Women’s University School of Nursing.
Josephine was the mother of one daughter, Sharon Denise Jackson. In 1973 she was united in holy matrimony to John H. Champion. They were married for 44 years.
Josephine was born into the Church of God in Christ under the leadership of her father, Ollie Jackson, and was a member of Saintsville Church of God in Christ in Dallas, Texas. Josephine loved fishing, cooking, gardening, and would shop until she dropped.
Josephine leaves to cherish her memories: her husband, John Champion, who resides in Dallas, Texas; her daughter, Sharon D. Jackson of Dallas, Texas; her sister, Olivia Jordan, of Kelly, Louisiana; three grandchildren, Tranika, Frank Jr., Shamila DuBose; two great-grandchildren, Bre’Elle and Brayden DuBose-Hegarty; a special niece Louise George; her nieces and nephews, Vincent, Anthony, Charletha, Brian, Robert, Shana, Carey, Tavare, and
N’Kenya Jordan; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Yuante Jordan preceded her in death.
