Joyce Adger was born on June 11, 1957 in Kansas City, Kansas to parents O.C. and Lillie B. Adger. She was a graduate of Central Senior High School in Kansas City, Missouri. She later gave birth to her daughter, Natosha L. Adger.
She married Wardell Bowman on November 21, 1993. She worked for the United States Postal Service until she retired on September 3, 2012. Joyce joined the Community Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Oscar D. Epps, Sr. on September 29, 2013. She truly loved her church and faithfully attended Sunday Worship as well as Word on Wednesday for Mid-Day Bible Study. She was a part of the Luke Gospel Family. Joyce served well with the Seasoned Saints Ministry, the Assimilation Ministry and the Singles Ministry.
Joyce had a way of finding humor in every situation, and she loved to laugh. She enjoyed listening to music, dancing, and entertaining guests in her home. Besides having fun with good friends, she enjoyed celebrating special occasions at casinos.
Joyce transitioned to the other side peacefully on Sunday, March 20, 2022 at 3:25 a.m. She is preceded in death by her husband, Wardell Bowman, as well as by her mother, Lillie B. Adger, and younger brother, Leonard “Recy” Adger.
Joyce’s sweet and precious memories will be forever cherished in the hearts of: her daughter, Natosha L. Adger; her grandchildren, Brooklynn and Sherrard Taylor II; her father, O.C. Adger; her sister, Gloria Thomas Anderson; her brother, Carl (Francene) Adger; her sister-in-love, Lawanna Adger; a host of loving nieces and nephews, and many other relatives and friends.
