KAWANA IMAN SCOTT MENCHACA

November 15, 1992 — July 14, 2024

Losing someone like Kawana Iman Scott Menchaca is not just a personal loss, it's also a loss for the whole community. Born on November 15,1992, in Opelika, Alabama, Kawana was a force from the very beginning. She dedicated her life to public health, leaving a lasting impact on those she worked with and loved.


Kawana's journey in public health began after earning a bachelor's degree from Prairie View A&M University. Her education provided her with knowledge and skills needed to make a difference & advocate for many. Kawana's passion for community and public rights shone in all her pursuits reflecting her values of generosity and kindness. To those who knew Kawana, understood that she was not just an advocate but also a warrior fighting for the well-being of others, especially those less fortunate. Her personality, filled with love and warmth, made her a joy to be around. She touched the lives of countless individuals through her work & her genuine connection to her community.


In addition to her professional accomplishments, Kawana found joy in simple pleasures like spending time with her loved ones. She is survived by her husband Nicolas Menchaca, who stood by her side through thick and thin. Her parents Antoine Gerard Scott & Trenell Dionne Scott , as well as her brothers Anderson Gerard Scott and Langston Gerard Scott, will always cherish the memories they shared with Kawana.


As we mourn the loss of Kawana Iman Scott Menchaca on July 14, 2024, we also celebrate the legacy she leaves behind. Her unwavering spirit and dedication serving others will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing her. May her memory be a blessing and may we carry forward her commitment to making the world a better place.
