LAVELLE BRADFORD

August 1, 1943 — August 14, 2021

LaVelle James Bradford was born on August 1, 1943 to Boyd W. Bradford Sr. and Dillie Sedera Harris-Bradford in Simsboro, Louisiana, a rural community. He was welcomed by other siblings to a loving home. His family later moved to Longview, Texas. He was affectionately nicknamed “Brandy” by friends and loved ones. He was educated in the Longview Schools and graduated from Mary C. Womack High School. Mr. Bradford began his Christian walk at an early age with his Baptism at Galilee Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend John Leaks in Longview, Texas. Lavelle moved to the DFW area for work and met and married Clementine Bradford. To this union his only son Timothy Blake Bradford was born. Timothy preceded his father in death. Mr. Bradford’s other church affiliations include Greater Abyssinia Baptist under Reverend Ira Dean, Greater Deliverance Baptist Church under the late Reverend Jason Scruggs, and the Reverend Jeremy Scruggs.

Bradford worked for many years at Panburg’s Candy Company until retirement. He later worked for American Bearing in Kennedale, Texas as a delivery driver until his health failed. Lavelle showered everyone with his spiritual gifts of giving and service. He loved serving the Lord.

Mr. Bradford was preceded in death by both of his parents, brothers; Jimmy Bradford, Larry Bradford, and Boyd William Bradford, Jr., one sister-in-law C’Ray Bradford.

After a reproductive and blessed life, a powerful voice was silenced and a heart of gold stopped beating on Saturday August 14, 2021 with loved ones surrounding him.

He leaves to cherish his memories, sisters; Olam Mae Bradford of Dallas, Texas and Annie Mae Bradford Polley (Charles) of Longview, Texas; two sister-in-laws Gail Bradford and Wilma Bradford, several god-daughters, an abundance of nieces and nephews, many friends, and extended family.
