Lawrence Richard Royal, a beloved son, brother, husband, father, and a cherished member of his community, passed away peacefully in Dallas on December 4, 2024, just two days shy of his 74th birthday. Born on December 6, 1950, in Dallas, Texas, Lawrence was a proud graduate of James Madison High School, class of 1969.
Lawrence's life was marked by his dedication and service. He honorably served in the United States Navy from 1971 to 1975, during which he was recognized with a Presidential Service Award, a testament to his commitment and contributions to his country. After his military service, he returned to Dallas, where he engaged in general labor, exemplifying his hardworking nature.
Known for his friendly and chatty demeanor, Lawrence was driven and helpful, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. His interests included being a passionate fan of the Dallas Cowboys, a team he proudly supported throughout his life. He was also an excellent swimmer, showcasing athleticism that brought him joy and fitness.
Lawrence is survived by his son, Lawrence K. Royal, and daughter-in-law, Trameisha Royal, along with his siblings Antony Royal and Naomi Royal. He leaves behind warm memories and stories that will forever be cherished by his family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father, Samuel Royal, and mother, Charlston Brightman Royal, as well as his brothers Herman Chambers, Ron Harris, George Harris, and Nathan Royal, and his sister Carolyn Harris. The legacy of Lawrence's kindness and the memories shared will continue to resonate within the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
A funeral service honoring Lawrence's life will be held on January 8, 2025, at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, beginning at 10:00 AM, followed by final internment at 11:00 AM. His family invites all who knew him to join in celebrating a life well-lived.
