Lena Mae Williams, a devoted mother, sister, aunt, daughter, and beloved member of the Plano community, passed away on October 10, 2024 at the age of 72. Born on January 5, 1952 in Gilmer, Texas to the late Lilton, Sr. and the late Janie Faggans, she was their fourth child of seven.
She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1970 and attended El Centro College. She was baptized at Marsalis Avenue Church of Christ.
She married Bernard Anthony Williams in 1973. She joined the Air Force in 1976 and served her country for two years. She studied automotive repair and maintenance, working as an auto mechanic assistant in her youth. She worked for the federal government from 1984 until her retirement in 2018, first in the Department of Defense, secondly with the Department of Agriculture, and lastly with the Internal Revenue Service.
Lena was known for her kind heart, infectious laughter, and unwavering love for her family. She touched the lives of many with her gentle spirit and willingness to always lend a helping hand. Lena will be remembered for her passion for reading, writing short stories, love of fashion, and interior decorating. She loved her ice cold Coca Colas, her beloved stuffed animals, watching crime shows, documentaries and comedy specials.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Janie Faggans; father, Lilton Faggans Sr.; sister, Helen Robinson.
She is survived by her children, Nathan Faggans, Kenneth Williams and Jason Williams; siblings, Farad Id Deen, Estella Faggans, Carl Faggans, Lilton Faggans, Jr., Phylllis Sneed; as well as nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and in-laws. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
