Levi W. Lucas, son of the late Clarence Lucas Sr., and the late Joanna Lucas Williams, was born May 23, 1945 in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He was the third child of ten children. His brothers, Bennie R. Lucas, Leroy “Milton” Lucas, Sr., and Almo “Bubba” Lucas, and sister, Clydia Liggins, preceded him in death. Levi departed this life on Tuesday, June 12, 2018 in Dallas, Texas.
Levi was baptized at an early age in Natchitoches, Louisiana. He was an active member and servant of Emmanuel Fellowship Baptist Church.
Levi was a retired Army Veteran who served his country for 21 years. He bravely fought two tours in the Vietnam War. He started and completed his Army career as a paratrooper stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina. He was a devoted husband, father, brother and grandfather who enjoyed quality family time and tinkering in his garage. His wife of 47 years, Bertha Lucas, will greatly miss her best friend. He also leaves cherished memories to: children, Tracy R. Lucas, Lawanda G. Crawford (Todd), and Sandra E. Williams (Alexandria, Louisiana); three grandchildren, Deonte’ Marquis, Jordyn Michelle and Nadia Alexandria; two great-grandchildren, Tristian Isiah and Ai’yana Denae; his brothers, Clarence Lucas, Jr. (Velma), Earl Lucas, Sr. (Vessie), Charles E. Lucas (Brenda), Reverend James L. Lucas (Frances), and Larry Lucas; sister, Joyce Sykes (Leroy); stepmother, Doretha Lucas; along with a host of special nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends.
