LILLIAN A. ALEXANDER was born March 3, 1929 in Rosser, Kaufman County, Texas. She was the 3rd of 5 children born to parentage of Jake Terrell Wilson and Carrie Bell Clark Wilson. She entered into rest on Thursday, December 31, 2020.
Lillian received most of her public school education in Rosser. Lillian’s father passed away in 1938 when she was 9 years of age. Later her mom married again, and the family moved to Ennis, Ellis County, Texas. She graduated from Ennis Colored High School in 1945. She then attended Mary Allen College for 2.5 years. She entered Prairie View A&M University receiving both her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in 1950. On June 5, 1951, she married to 2nd Lieutenant Walter Alexander.
Lillian united with Fourth Ward Baptist Church of Ennis, Texas in 1968 with Walter. She was always committed to God and very active in Church. In addition to serving as a Deacon’s Wife, she served several years as Secretary of Senior Choir, member of the Missionary Society Program Committee, Sunday School Teacher and Publicity Chair of Church.
Lillian’s community activities included: Member of Ennis Public Library Board, Member of Board of Helping Hands of Ennis, Volunteer for Helping Hands of Ennis, Chairman of Scrapbook Committee of Ennis Heritage Society, Ennis Cemetery Association, East Ellis County Needs Assessment, President Epsilon Zeta Chapter of The National Sorority of Phi Delta Kappa, Inc., Retired Personnel Association of Ennis, Program Chair and President of Ennis Lions Club.
Lillian was preceded in death by her loving husband of 60 years, Walter; her parents; 4 siblings: Lewis Wilson, Ernest Bob Wilson, Lavada Griffin and Minola Wilson.
Left to cherish and treasure precious memories of Lillian are her daughter, Amie Lorraine Cherry of Frisco, TX; son, Stephen Robert Alexander, Sr. (Marie) of Ennis, TX; six grandchildren, Amber Alexander and Zachary Alexander of East Hartford, CT, India Stiff, Jordan Stiff, Gabrielle Owens of Dallas, TX and Stephen Alexander, Jr. of Ennis, TX; six great-grandchild, Tyrell Young, Jr. and Tristan of East Hartford, CT, Marcus Jr. and Rhyanne of Dallas, Texas, Jordan Jr and Jayden of Frisco, TX; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends .
