Lola Mae McGee Garrett, a radiant soul whose presence could illuminate even the gloomiest of days, departed this world on December 29, 2024, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness that will forever echo in the hearts of those she touched. Born on September 8, 1940, to Ozee McGee and Dorothy Harris in Terrell, Texas of Kaufman County. She grew up with siblings Dorothy Johnson, Clarence Johnson, Jr., and Billy Ray Johnson. Later, she married Marvin Garrett (deceased) on March 26, 1962 and moved to Dallas, Texas where they raised three sons, Donnie, Stanley, and Marvin Jr. (preceded in death). Lola accepted Christ in her life and the Garrett family moved to Fort Worth, Texas with their church family, making Fort Worth their permanent home. Lola lived a life filled with compassion, joy, and an unwavering commitment to brighten the lives of everyone around her.
Her gentle spirit and loving nature were the hallmarks of her personality. Friends and family remember her not only for the caring warmth she exuded, but for the way she could transform a mere gathering into a celebration of life. Lola had a unique gift for making others feel special, whether it was through a simple smile or a thoughtfully crafted gesture. Her laughter was contagious, and her enthusiasm for life was boundless.
As we gather to honor her memory, we invite those who cherished her to join us for a Viewing on January 10, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home - Ft. Worth, located at 5701 East Loop 820 South, Fort Worth, TX 76119. This will be a time to reflect on the beautiful moments shared with Lola, and to celebrate the joy she brought into our lives.
