Lula Mae King Thompson was born October 16, 1926 to the parentage of Tom King and Lula Simon in Longview, Texas.

Lula received her education in the Longview Texas School.

Lula met and married the love of her life, Jeff Thompson, Jr, Lula brought into the marriage daughter Eva Lois Williams Justice, six children born into the marriage; daughters Carolyn Thompson, Mae Thompson Barree, Jacquelyn Thompson Bell, Mary Lynn Thompson, Jennifer Thompson McCloud, and son Jeff Thompson III.

Lula was in the house keeping industry and worked for Sanger Harris Department Store for many years. Upon retirement she became self-employed.

Lula accepted Christ at any early age. She served faithfully as a member of New El Bethel Baptist Church, Dallas, TX, under the leadership of Pastor B. B. Neal.

Later in life Lula and her husband Jeff Thompson Jr, established and helped to established several churches in the Dallas, Texas area. In 1985, First Thompson Missionary Baptist Church was established. The church was named in honor of her late husband Jeff Thompson, Jr. Then in 1994, after the death of her husband Jeff Thompson Jr, Lula Mae Thompson became the overseer, church mother, and the usher board president. She served faithfully until she became ill and could no longer attend services.

Lula departed this life February 15, 2016. She was preceded in death by the love of her life Jeff Thompson Jr.; daughters, Eva Lois Williams Justice and Mary Lynn Thompson; father, Tom King; mother, Lula Simon; sisters, Fanny, Beatris, Nancy; brothers RT, Needem, William and Alliious.

She leaves to cherish her memory: daughters, Carolyn Thompson, Mae Thompson Barree (John), Jacquelyn Thompson Bell (Wilbur), Jennifer Thompson McCloud: son, Jeff Thompson III, 18 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
