LUTHER CURRY

December 23, 1951 — December 21, 2020

Celebrating The Life of

Luther Gene Curry, Jr.

His Start

Luther Gene Curry Jr, affectionately known as Brother Luther, was born on December 23, 1951 to

Vera Kidd and Luther Gene Curry Sr. He was the youngest of two siblings.

Born and raised in Ennis Texas he was a graduate of Ennis Junior High where he went on to be a

Master Mechanic. Once leaving his hometown, Luther resided in Fort Worth TX where he met his

ex-wife Maggie Marie Willis. His Father, Mother and Brother proceeded him in death.

His Faith

In 2001 Brother Luther joined Dayspring Family Church in Irving Texas, under the pastorate of Bishop Kevin Dickerson. For the majority of that time he served as Maintenance Manager for the church buildings where

the staff loved him and enjoyed working with him.

He was indispensable, and seemed to know how to fix anything, and everything.  He often shared his

testimony of how much he loved God and how God had changed his life and brought him through some

very difficult times. He was quick to apologize and quick to forgive.

He served on the Usher Board, Men of Valor Men’s Ministry, Thanksgiving Outreach, Church Picnic,

and any other church auxiliary that needed help. His kind attitude, contagious smile, and witty personality

made him the favorite of many. He will truly be missed.

His Service

Brother Luther willingly used his expertise as a Master Mechanic to help countless people with their car

Repairs, often charging very little or nothing. It didn’t matter the make of the car he would willingly tackle

the problem in order to help anyone in need. And he didn’t only fix cars, but would go to the homes of

those who asked and do repairs and maintenance for them,  as well as at commercial buildings.

His Legacy

Brother Luther truly loved his daughters and spoke of them with pride as he shared their successful

careers. He loved his grandchildren, celebrating their accomplishments and was totally overjoyed by

the arrival of the two great grandchildren,

Cherishing his memory, he leaves behind his eldest Daugther Audra Curry-Simmons (Michael Simmons)

and youngest daughter Antronette (Nett) Curry-Thompson (Vol Thompson).

Three grandchildren Jaztin Watkins, Jamarious Lewis, and Damian Thompson, and two

great grandchildren, Zane Watkins and Zeana Watkins. He also leaves a special friend, Toni;

and a host of cousins, extended family, and the members of Dayspring Family Church.
