Luther Jones, Jr. was born January 22, 1924 to Cressie and Luke Jones in Leesburg, Texas one of four children. He moved to Dallas, Texas and united in marriage to Alma Hightower, June 7, 1945 and to this union, five girls and one son were born.
He retired from the Veterans Administration Hospital after 30 years of faithful service.
He professed his faith in Christ on November 1984 and was a member in good standing at Love Chapel Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Matthew Lefall. He was appointed a Deacon on September 10, 2004 and served faithfully until his health failed him.
On September 12, 2010 he was awarded “Man of the Year” by his church, and he was so proud of this honor.
On Tuesday, September 27, 2016 the Angel of Death took Luther away to his heavenly home. He is joined by his wife, Alma Jones, 2 sisters, Virdie Mae Crook, Willie Mae Pace, 1 brother Lawrence Starnes, and 1 great grandson Xavier Robertson.
He leaves to cherish his memories: 5 Daughters, Annie Ruth Lacy (Joe), Annie Lee Pittman (James), Linda Casteel, Vanessa Dale Broussard, Audrey Dones; 1 son, Luther Jones (Jackie), 2 sister in laws, Katie Starnes, Eunice Harris, 13 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren, 12 great great grandchildren and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
