Mamie Lois Bonner was born in Hallsville, a small town in East Texas on May 15, 1936.
She received her early childhood education at Galilee in Hallsville, Texas. She also attended Lincoln High School in Dallas, Texas. She furthered her education at Texas Business Institute and Eastfield College.
She professed her love for Christ at an early age at Cartersville Church of Christ. She later continued her Christian walk at Concord Baptist Church under the late Dr. E.K. Bailey and currently under Dr. Bryan Carter, where she was a faithful member of the Samuel Sunday School Class and Choir (for over 20 years).
She married Leonard Hayward, Sr. in 1955. During that union four children were born: Cassandra, Rita, Leonard, Jr. and Cheryl. She later married Rufus Jones in 1978.
She was a supervisor at Jo Hardin Originals for many years. But most of all, a housewife and an amazing Mom.
On Tuesday, July 11, 2023 at 11:37 p.m. she passed away at Baylor University Medical Center-Dallas.
Those left to cherish her memories are her daughter, Rita Johnson (Foxx Johnson); son, Leonard Hayward, Jr.; daughter, Cheryl Beck (Reginald Beck, Sr.); daughter/niece, Olivia Hayward; grandchildren: Caya, Dammascus, Kevin, Reginald Jr., Lelandra, Delbernee, Carisha and Kara; great-grandchildren: Kennedy, Jeoni, Jada, Tak’hia, Myja, Julien, Becca, Dionaro, Jai’dyn, Khaleb, Khalynn, Shaun Marie, Mila, Ivy and Chance; great-great grandchildren: Journie, Xy’air, Majesty and Jacobi; siblings: Ruby Richardson, Jacqulyn Finch, Ever Grace White, L.C. Bonner and Derrick Bonner; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Preceding her in death were her husband, Rufus Jones; mother, Reba Cook (Arthur Cook); father, John Bonner (Gwendolyn Bonner); daughter, Cassandra France; sisters: Gloria Bell, Eunice Jones, Alma Henry: brothers: Willie Lee Bonner and James Clay.
