Margaret Elaine Chatman, affectionately known as “Laine”, was born on February 6, 1954 in Terrell, Texas to the late Alonzo and Oderia McCrainey.
Margaret got her early spiritual beginning at El Bethel COGIC in Garland, Texas.
She received her formal education from Garland Independent School District and was a graduate of Garland High School. Margaret was always entrepreneurial driven and later achieved her goal as owning her own business. For 15 years, Margaret owned and operated, “Mr. B’s Beauty Supply” and a full-service salon “Hair and Nails by Nicole”. Most recently Margaret was employed by and retired from Safeway Corporation (Tom Thumb Food Stores) where she held the position as a Customer Service Clerk for 20 plus years.
Margaret was united in marriage to Larry Chatman for 21 years and to their union was born two children: Kamisha Chatman-Anderson and Chareva Chatman. She is the grandmother to three grandchildren: Shamyra Payton, Zavier Chatman, Kiana Anderson and two great grandchildren: Jaci and Jahri Payton
Margaret was always the life of a party and never met a stranger. She was known for her outspokenness and passion and one always knew what was on her mind. She is preceded in death by her parents, Alonzo and Oderia; and sisters, Cloteal Williams, Vivian Clemons, and Rhonda McCrainey.
She leaves to cherish her precious memory: three brothers, Frank (Annie) Dickson of Garland, Texas, Oscar (Jean) McCrainey of Rowlett, Texas, Alvin McCrainey Sr. of Murphy, Texas one sister, Laverne Jackson of Richardson, Texas; a forever sister-in-law, Emma McCrainey of Plano, Texas; a devoted friend, Darron Taylor, and a host of uncles, aunts, cousins, nieces and nephews.
