On the evening of May 24, 1984, a handsome baby boy by the name of Marlon Jerome Anderson made his grand entrance into the world in Orange, Tx to the proud parents of Linda Gray and Charley Anderson Jr.
Marlon accepted Christ at an early age and attended Mt. Olive Baptist Church in Orange, Tx where he was later baptized.
He relocated at the age of four to Corsicana, Tx with his family. There he attended Bowie Elementary and Collins Middle School. He later transferred to Desoto High school where he played on the junior varsity basketball team and was a graduate of the class of 2002.
Marlon began his college education fall of 2002 at Cedar Valley Community College in Lancaster, Tx. During his time there he met longtime friend and companion Rayshonda Nelson. They shared an undeniable connection through the years.
For many years Marlon worked at Texas Instruments as a Computer Chip Analyst. In 2016 he landed a job at FedEx. Starting off as a Package Handler and ultimately climbed his way to a well-earned promotion as Lead Switcher Trainer, which he mastered. He was instrumental in training over 120 Switchers during his tenure.
To know Marlon was to truly love him. He always had a joyful spirit. From a young age, he was filled with laughter, compassion, and a kind heart. He lived a carefree life with no regrets. Marlon never met a stranger and was always ready for a good debate. His open ear for music resulted in a unique way for him to be able to articulate his thoughts on paper and convey them into songs.
Watching sports was one of the things he liked to do in his past time. But basketball was his favorite sport. He loved basketball so much that he would often fall asleep with a ball next to him growing up. Just a few days before his passing he was able to attend a live NBA game of one of his favorite teams. And we can’t forget his love for an old-school Chevy.
Marlon was a family man and cherished spending time with the ones he held dear to his heart.
As the night drew near on February 1, 2022, Marlon navigated his way to his final destination. He will be missed by all his family and close friends. Marlon will be remembered as a virtuous son, caring brother, devoted companion, and loyal friend.
Marlon will be joining in eternal life with his maternal grandparents Richetta Steve and Robert Taylor, paternal grandparents Glorine and Charley Anderson Sr., stepmother Jacqueline Guillory Anderson, uncle Kenneth Wayne Taylor and aunt Justine Childs. He leaves to cherish precious memories of 37 years: parents Linda Gray of Desoto, Tx and Charley Anderson Jr. of Beaumont, Tx; brothers James (J.J.) Guillory II and Corey Guillory (Barbara); sister Keisha Anderson and fiancé Rayshonda Nelson; uncles Adrian Jerome Steve (Delores), Kenneth Dewayne Anderson (Robin) and Delvin Anderson; aunts Ella Jane Gipson, Rosie Lee Cornelius, Ann Wiltz, and Shirley Crawford; godfather Jerome Curry Sr; five nephews, one niece, and a host of relatives and friends.
