MARY L. HATCHER

August 9, 1932 — March 30, 2024

Mary Louise Matthews Hatcher, “Gram” to her grandchildren, was born Tuesday, August 9, 1932, to Alonzo and Octavia Brooks Matthews. Mary was a lifelong member of First Saint John Baptist Church, where she was pastored by the late Rev. L. B. Moss, and then by its current pastor, Bishop Kenneth B. Spears.  

She retired from both Siecor Electronics, where she was employed as an Assembler, as well as the Fort Worth Independent School District, where she worked in Food Services. 

Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Billy, her eldest son, Benton Eugene Hatcher, her grandson, Daniel Laurence Smith, and her brother, Deryl Matthews.

Left to remember her life are her sons, Michael Hatcher, Alan Hatcher (Deborah); her daughter, Robin R. Smith (David); her grandsons, Lenny White (Tamika), Stephen Connelly (Aimee), and Braxton Smith; her granddaughters, Brittany Hatcher, Tabatha Hatcher, Daphne Futrell (Justin), and Desiree Smith; along with 19 great‑grands, three great‑great grands, and several lifelong friends.
