Mary Lynn Shaw, a beloved figure in the community of Ennis, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 26, 2025, at the age of 88. Born on October 22, 1936, in Alma, Texas, Mary was known for her directness, kindness, strength, and unwavering love for her family and friends.
Mary dedicated many years of her life to the home health care industry, where she provided compassionate care to those in need. Her work ethic extended to various roles during her career, including positions in the cafeteria of the Ennis School District, at the Herman Marcus Sewing Factory, and W.R. Story Manufacturing. Through her diverse professional journey, Mary earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues and those she served.
A proud graduate of George Washington High School, Mary embraced every task with diligence and commitment. She was not only dedicated to her work but also to her family, whom she considered her greatest achievement. Mary's connection to her church family was equally important, and she was often seen as a pillar of strength within her community.
Mary enjoyed a variety of hobbies and interests that brought joy to her life. She was a passionate player of dominoes and spades, and she cherished the moments spent playing basketball with her grandchildren. An ardent supporter of local sports, Mary was a devoted fan of the Ennis Lion football team and followed professional teams, proudly cheering for the Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs. She was a coach for several softball teams.
Her warmth and loving spirit touched the lives of many, and she leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that will continue to inspire those who knew her.
Mary's wake service will be held on January 31, 2025, at Ennis Mt. Zion Baptist Church, located at 800 East Freeman Street, Ennis, TX, beginning at 6:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on February 1, 2025, at the same location, starting at 12:00 PM. Mary will be laid to rest at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery on February 11, 2025, at 11:00 AM.
Mary Lynn Shaw will be deeply missed, but her memory will remain alive in the hearts of those she loved and in the many lives she touched throughout her remarkable journey.
