Mary Louise (Runnels) Washington, 75, of Fort Worth, Texas, peacefully entered into rest on February 23, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on March 5, 1949, in Hooks, Texas, to Al Runnels Jr., Carrie Runnels, and Lonnie Nettles. From a young age, Mary dedicated her life to Christ and remained a faithful member of the Church of Christ.
She earned her master’s degree from Texas A&M University-Commerce, a testament to her dedication to education and lifelong learning.
On April 20, 1969, she married the love of her life, Bobby Ray “Sock” Washington, Sr., and together they built a life centered around faith, family, and love. She is preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Ray Washington, Sr.; daughter, Brandi Rashawn Washington; grandson, Juan Merino Jr.; daughter-in-law, Michelle Washington; her parents; and two sisters.
She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her children, Bobby Ray Jr., Brad, Bryson, and Brittany “Jamie”; 10 beloved siblings; 11 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a host of extended family and dear friends. Mary’s warmth, strength, and unwavering faith will forever be remembered by those who knew and loved her.
As we gather to honor this extraordinary woman, we invite those who loved her to join in a Prayer Service on March 7, 2025, starting at 6:00 PM at the East Pointe Church of Christ in Fort Worth, Texas. A Funeral Service will follow the next day, March 8, 2025, commencing at 11:00 AM, at the same beloved church. 3029 Handley Drive in Fort Worth will host those who gather to celebrate a life filled with warmth, love, and unwavering support for others.
