Mattie Bell Williams was born in Dallas, Texas, to Mr. Clyde Williams, Sr., and Mrs. Bernadine Williams on July 3, 1950. Mattie was the third of twelve siblings. Mattie was reared in a Christian home by her grandmother, Minnie L. Miller, and her mother, Bernadine Cox. She accepted Christ at an early age at Wyatt Street Christian Church under the leadership of Pastor Prather and the late Reverend Melvin Wright. She attended Turner High School, where she was part of the drill team. She graduated from Waxahachie Turner High School. She then moved to Dallas and worked at Parkland Hospital for 17 years until she retired. Then, she worked at Lynwood Rehabilitation Center until her health failed.
Mattie has two sons, Guvie Williams and Clyde Williams.
Those left to cherish her memory are her child, Clyde Williams; one granddaughter, Jamya Williams; brother and sisters, Reverend E.B. Miller (Betty), Clyde Williams, Jr. (Anita Dent), Freddie M. Cox, Berdell Goosby (Paul), Kenneth Cox (Shelia), Michael Cox and Denise Martin (Ed); an uncle and aunt; a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; brothers-in-law, Reginal Paul Goosby, and Ed Martin; sisters-in-law, Betty L. Miller, Sandra Williams, Anita Dent Williams, Shelia Cox, and Glenda Cox; and friends.
Mattie was preceded in death by her father, Clyde Williams, Sr.; mother, Bernadine Cox; brothers, Carl Cox, David L. Williams, Lester Cox and Calvin R. Williams; and her son, Guvie Williams.
