MELBA ELIZABETH COOKS

October 13, 1943 — December 28, 2023

Melba Elizabeth Cooks, a humble mother.  She passed away on December 28, 2023, at Keller Oaks Healthcare Center. She was born on October 13, 1943, in Ruston, Louisiana.

Melba's love for cooking was evident in everything she did. As a school cook, she brought joy and nourishment to countless students throughout her career. Her dedication and passion for her craft were unmatched. Melba saw cooking not only as a job but as a way to express her love and care for others.

Outside of the kitchen, Melba was an extraordinarily humble woman with a heart of gold. Her warm smile and kind nature left a lasting impression on everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. She had a remarkable ability to put others before herself and would go above and beyond to lend a helping hand to those in need.

In addition to her remarkable culinary abilities and humble nature, Melba was an adoring mother and grandmother. Her children, Tony Cooks, Daphne Johnson, and Reginald Cooks, meant the world to her. Her love for them knew no bounds. Melba's grandchildren held a special place in her heart, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Cooking was not just a profession for Melba; it was also one of her hobbies and greatest joys in life. From experimenting with new recipes to preparing meals for family gatherings, she poured her heart into every dish she made. The love that went into each bite made them truly unforgettable.

Melba Elizabeth Cooks will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of crossing paths with her. Her legacy as an exceptional cook and humble soul will continue to live on through the memories we hold dear in our hearts.

As we say our final goodbyes to Melba, let us remember not only the delicious meals she prepared but also the kindness and love she radiated. May her spirit forever inspire us to share our talents with the world and to never forget the importance of humility and compassion.

In this time of grief, let us also find solace in the enduring memories we shared with Melba. Though she may no longer be physically present, her spirit will remain etched in our hearts forever.

Melba Elizabeth Cooks is survived by her children, Tony Cooks, Daphne Johnson, and Reginald Cooks, along with a host of grandchildren. May they find comfort in the memories they shared and take solace in the knowledge that Melba's love will always be with them.
