Obituary
Mr. Melvin (Mel) Tasby was born to the proud parents of the late Sam and Georgia Tasby on December 4, 1950 in Dallas, Texas. He was the fourth of six children.
On the morning of March 8, 2016, the Angel of Silence came with chilly fingers and sealed his lips. His soul winged its flight from this world of sin, sorrow and pain.
Accepting Christ in his early twenties at Pilgrim Home Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J. C. Daniel. He later joined Friendship-West Baptist Church under the leadership of Dr. Frederick D. Haynes, III.
He received his former education in the Dallas Independent School District, graduating from L. G. Pinkston in 1969. Melvin continued his education at the University of Texas in Arlington and received a Bachelor of Art in Communication (Radio and Television) in 1983. He was a member of the US Army, serving in Vietnam.
Melvin had a gentle, humble and caring spirit that touched the heart of all who came in contact with him. He always had a listening ear for those in need.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brother, Eddie M. Tasby and Philip W. Tasby; one sister, Peggy Tasby Russell.
Melvin Tasby leaves loving memories to cherish for his beloved Monica Taylor; one son, Demondre (Dionne) Tasby and one daughter, Daralyn Martin; one brother, Sammy (Cecilia) Tasby; one sister, Lillie Molett; one brother in-law, Willie Russell; five grandchildren, Jabria, Demondre, II, Bria, Dâaira and Harper; one great-granddaughter, Zailia all of Texas; one aunt, host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends including Billy Ray Redmon and Viester McCollum.
