MILDRED WADE

January 27, 1950 — January 4, 2025

Mildred Wade was born on January 27th, 1950, in Harlem New York to the late James Harvey Hoskins and Hilda Christine Hoskins. Mildred spent her life achieving remarkable milestones and touching the hearts of everyone she met. Growing up in the northeast, with her determination led her to achieving numerous accomplishments.

After she graduated Colonia High School in 1969, She pursued her passion for helping others by earning her LPN License at Middlesex County Vocational College. She expanded her knowledge with an associate degree in accounting. As a nurse she cared for many whether being by a patient’s bedside at Robert Wood John University Hospital, helping families with Hospice Care or taking care of pediatric patients through Bayada Home health, her career was always dedicated to assisting others in need.

Mildred’s faith was the cornerstone of her life. She gave her life to Christ in 1972 at Mount Calvary United Church of God where she began her journey of service in ministry with her sisters Ceila Diggs and the late Christine Grant. Over the years she served in various roles including the usher board, Sunday school teacher, a member of the mother's board and most recently, on October 30, 2022, she became an Elder in the Lord's Church under the leadership of Bishop Marcus Holley at Greater St. Matthews Fellowship Ministries. Her unwavering mustard seed faith and commitment to her church community inspired all who knew her. She adopted many as her own and treated them as such.

A lover of life and learning, Mildred found joy in reading, spending time with family, listening to jazz and R&B as well as playing board games and spades. She often dreamed of places to travel and explore. Mildred was blessed with love throughout life having married young to Henry Cromartie in 1969 but later parted ways. She married the love of her life, the late Mario Wade, in 1986. Mildred was fortunate enough to love again later in life and married the late Henry Guest in 1996. She was a proud and devoted mother, sister, aunt, grandmother, and friend.

Mildred leaves behind her four children Steven Hoskins (late Jennifer) Tyrone Cromartie (Alicia) Iesha Wilson (late Granville) and Trenice Wade, sister Ann Diggs, nieces Tiffany Alston and Olivia Diggs, and a host of grandchildren, great grands, loved ones and friends. Mildred’s passing on January 4, 2025, leaves a legacy of love service strength and wisdom. She will be deeply missed but forever cherished by her family friends and all who are fortunate enough to know her. Rest in peace as you join the heavenly choir your light will forever shine and the hearts of those touched.
