Minnie Joy Watkins–Brooks was born in Ferris, TX on May 26, 1947 to the late Doris Nell Robertson-Watkins and Willie T. Watkins Sr.
She accepted Christ at an early age in Ferris, TX and attended Truevine Baptist Church and later moved membership to Homeland Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. T. R. McNealy Sr.
She attended Dunbar Independent School District in Ferris, TX. She married her sweetheart Wesley Cain Brooks on September 20, 1991. She worked at Bee’s Café, Target and Khol’s.
Minnie J. Watkins Brooks departed this life for eternal life on May 19, 2018.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Doris Nell Robertson-Watkins; father, Willie T. Watkins; husband, Wesley Cain Brooks; two brothers, Robert Watkins and Willie T. Watkins Jr.; three sisters, Cynthia Watkins, Bobbie Watkins Johnson and Vernell Carter Hollie; two sons, Richard Charles Brooks and Norman Lee Watkins (Marilyn).
She leaves to cherish her memories: four sons, Raymond Randy (Deloris), Wesley (LaVonda), Patrick (LaShonda); two daughters, Sonya and Kathy (David Earl); fifteen grandchildren, Keosha, Shaneiqua, Ta’qwana, Oliver, Anthony, George, Davion, Jennifer, Shequaintierra, Zoey, Meyosha, Carneisha, Chasedy, MichaKalia, ShaQuita; seventeen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; two sisters, Alice Faye of Ferris, TX and Carolyn of Ferris, TX; four brothers, Edward Charles (Peggy) of Dallas, TX, Mackiey Ray (Tonya) of Ohio, Terry of Ferris, TX, Ryan Watkins of Seattle, WA; eighteen nieces and nephews; a host of great nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
