Minnie Lee Cooper began her earthly race in Thornton, Texas on July 26, 1929, to the parentage of Tommy Cooper, Sr. and Minnie C. Cooper. She finished her course on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.
Minnie attended grade school and graduated from High School in Thornton, TX and later moved to Dallas, TX. Mother Cooper was a member of the Bethlehem Primitive Baptist Church under the leadership of Elder Bobby Skinner, where she served faithfully on the Mother’s Board and Mission Ministry. She was an active and supportive member of the Sinai District Primitive Baptist Association and the Primitive Baptist General Convention of Texas. Mother Cooper was also an avid National Convention attendee and a Women's Congress supporter for years.
She was business-minded even at a young age and she soon became the owner of Minnie’s Place Boutique, serving the Dallas area and abroad with unique, fashionable Church Hats and Accessories. Minnie lived in Dallas, TX and worked for Texas Instruments and the Salvation Army. She will be fondly remembered for her fashion expertise, wisdom and quick wit. She was a great example to many women across this nation and her presence will be truly missed!
Minnie (affectionately known as Madea) was preceded in death by her parents, Tommy Cooper, Sr. and Minnie C. Cooper; her brother, Tommy Cooper, Jr.; sister, Mellie Jean Scruggs; and daughter Jeanette Cooper Wofford.
Minnie leaves to celebrate her life: Her daughter, Ilona Salter – Dallas, TX; Four Grandchildren, Ashantia Salter - Balch Springs, TX; Tanya Whitaker (Reggie) – Balch Springs, TX; Deric Salter – Dallas, TX; Crispian Cooper – Dallas, TX; Nine Great Grandchildren, Zariya Whitaker – Balch Springs, TX; Anaya Timmons, Balch Springs, TX; Deric Loftin, Dallas, TX; Darqualon Teague, Dallas, TX; Andrew McLeod, Dallas, TX; Deric Butler, Dallas, TX; Derian Salter, Dallas, TX; Ashontia Macbeth, Dallas, TX; Great Great Grandson, Carson Martin, Dallas, TX, Special Friend, Mother Ethel Arnold, Dallas, TX and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
