Dallas, Texas
Born July 16, 1964 in San Francisco, California, Nancy Dyas-Brown was raised in the fear and admonition of God by her loving parents Deacon Thermon Dyas and Mother Nellie Hallmon-Dyas, both of whom were awaiting her arrival in Glory.
After graduating from Grace Davis High School, Nancy began her matriculation from Modesto Community through Monterey Peninsula culminating, in Spring 2015, when she proudly walked the graduation stage at Mountain View College in Dallas, TX.
Nancy was saved and baptized in the Holy Ghost at a young age, she spent her formative years at Westside Community Church of God in Christ (Supt. Carlton Wright) in Modesto, California before finding her way to Seaside, California to join Greater Victory Temple COGIC under the leadership of Bishop W.W. Hamilton. It was there where she served faithfully as a member of the choir and Praise Team. It was also there where she would meet and eventually marry the love of her life, Elder Merlin Brown. After leaving California, The Browns moved to New Orleans, LA joining in fellowship at Watson Memorial Teaching Ministries. Fleeing Hurricane Katrina, the family left New Orleans and settled in Dallas, TX joined the Lighthouse Church of God In Christ family (Supt. Michael O. Clerkley, Sr.)
Nancy was an anointed gospel singer who ministered to the hearts, souls, and minds of all who heard proclaiming, âI Wonât Complainâ, âSilver and Goldâ, âGodâs Got a Blessing With Your Name on Itâ, and her final benediction song, âI Shall Never Let Go His Handâ. No matter where she was, she was a cheerleader for the ministry and always found supporting the church through music, education and youth work. She gave her all to see others succeed and grow.
Nancy enjoyed spending time at the beach, reading, and traveling. But most of all, she loved spending time with her family: duets with Kellae, long conversations with Kelsey, âpopcorn and a movieâ nights with KeâLeah and all the times she and Merlin spent watching black and white movies and laughing themselves to sleep. Nancy had a keen sense of humor and absolutely loved to laugh.
Nancy Marie transitioned from Earth to Glory on Monday August 1, 2016. She leaves to cherish her memory her loving and faithful husband Merlin; her daughters, Kellae, Kelsey, and KeLeah Brown; Her step-brother in love Everett Fondal (Diane) New Orleans, LA; Brothers in-love, Andre (Ann), Keith, Clifton both of New Orleans, LA, Eugene (Debra) Los Angeles, CA; Sisters in-love Pauleete Brown-Thomas (Don), Shawyander, Cornelia, Therese (Angel); and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends. She was preceded in death by her father and mother and her brother Reginald Dyas.
