Nellie Mae Anderson was born April 25, 1940, to Woodrow and Addie Bell Gaut Anderson. She was the fifth of ten children. She was baptized at East Cotton Street Church of Christ at an early age. After moving to Fort Worth she eventually moved her membership to Metropolitan Church of Christ. She has been a dedicated member of Metropolitan Church of Christ since 1978. She was a member of the Acapella Chorus and she served in the kitchen during fellowship events. Nellie was a faithful follower of the word of God and she truly lived the life of a devout Christian. “Gran Nellie” as the older Grandchildren often affectionately called her, would help anyone at any time if it were within her ability to do so. She freely shared her faith with family and friends. Our family loved her dearly and we will deeply miss her.
She graduated from Longview Colored High School.
She united with Ted Johnson, the couple had three sons and twin daughters. After the death of Ted she later met and married Marion Jordan, they had one son. She pursued a career as a professional barber and she was very much proud of this accomplishment.
