Minister Nola Mae Skinner was born May 23, 1934, to parents Viola and Nolan Skinner in Trinidad, Texas, delivered by a midwife. She graduated from Trinidad High School in 1953. Nola later met Freddie “Smitty” Smith in East Texas. Nola and Freddie married April 11, 1955, in Key West, Florida. She was a devoted wife and mother before joining the workforce. Nola gave her life to Christ around 1969, and remained faithful until death.
Nola was ordained as a minister on February 3, 2008. She served her church community, Deliverance Revival Tabernacle, for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Freddie Smith; father, Nolan Skinner; mother, Viola Raze; stepfathers, John Boggas and Vernon Raze; sister, Patsy Lawson; two daughters, Sheryl Beamon and Sandra Smith; two grandchildren, Andrais and Porsha Wells; and a great-grandson, Fredrick Holder.
She leaves to honor her memories: her uncle, Jefferson (Darla) Skinner of Kennard, Texas; son, Freddie D. (Nikki) Smith of Houston, Texas; daughters, Pamela Sheppard of Pittsburg, Texas, First Lady Sharon S. (Harvey) Miller of Wichita Falls, Texas, and Gail Smith of Houston, Texas; grandchildren, Sheree, Tiffany, Nolanda, Rodney, Erica, Lakesha, Shoneka, Derrick, Tanisha, Mykeeta, Arsi, Kendrick, LaToya, LaQreshia, Kevin, Steven, Justin and Kayla; and a host of greatgrands, great-great-grands, nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, and friends.
