NORVIL TAYLOR was born on January 28, 1955 in Childress, Texas to the parentage of Norman and Willa Mae Taylor. Norvil was the ninth of twelve children and affectionately known as “Boothy.” Norvil was baptized into the Lord’s church at an early age. He completed his schooling in Childress ISD and moved to Wichita Falls for a few years before ultimately relocating to Dallas to be near his siblings.
Norvil was very skilled in carpentry and carpet fitting and worked in those capacities for many years before his health began to decline. Boothy was extremely close to his siblings, especially his brothers. For over ten years, he lived next door to one of his older brothers, Johnny, and across the street from his oldest brother, Frank. All three could be found very often gathered in one of their front yards seated around a table, laughing, playing dominoes and enjoying one another. When the other brothers, Norman and Ostell would stop by, they would join the trio at the domino table and the never-ending trash talking and fun would increase exponentially! Though Norvil never had any children, he would call his nieces and nephews on a regular basis to check on them or just to have a good laugh. Most memorable about Norvil was the love of his life - “Tank” - his big brown and gold three quarter ton 1984 Chevrolet G20 Van, complete with coordinating tassels dangling from the sun visors! Tank was loyal to Norvil and they spent many years together, making many memories and venturing to many places, until Tank’s health failed. The time had come for Norvil and Tank to part ways and reluctantly they did so in October 2020. Though he contended valiantly against cancer, Norvil’s health continued to decline until he succumbed in the early hours of January 18, 2021 with his devoted sister and caretaker Jewel by his side.
Norvil is preceded in death by his father, mother, his brother Johnny and his sister Shirley. Those left to cherish his loving memories are his sisters: Rosemary of Dallas, TX, Maggie of DeSoto, TX, Pearlie of Clarksville, TX, Jewel (Jimmy) of DeSoto, TX, Olivia of Garland, TX, and Martha (Johnny) of Burleson, TX; his brothers: Frank of Dallas, TX, Norman of Arlington, TX and Ostell of Dallas, TX; and a host of family, friends and loved ones who will dearly miss him
