It is with a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Elder Odell Beck, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, who departed this life on February 20, 2025, in Dallas, Texas. Born on September 5, 1940, in the quaint town of Teague, Texas, Odell lived a life filled with love, laughter, and joy, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know him.
As a professional truck driver, Odell dedicated himself to his career, weaving through the highways and byways, delivering not only goods but also a spirit of camaraderie and kindness to all he encountered. His outgoing personality was a beacon, drawing people in and instilling warmth and levity in every interaction. His laughter echoed through the halls of his home, and memories of his effortless dance moves will forever linger on the dance floors he graced; family recollections recount how he transformed any gathering into a celebratory occasion through his captivating rhythms.
Odell's proudest accomplishment was marrying his beloved wife, Lillie Coleman, who stood by his side and filled his life with unwavering love and support. Together, they forged a strong family bond, gifting the world a legacy enriched by their children: Tradana Beck, Daphne Beck, Reginald Beck (Debbra), and Bridgette Henderson (Patrick). The familial love extended grandly as Odell took immense pride in his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, each a testament to his nurturing spirit.
In addition to his family life, Odell had a passion for the joys of entertainment—delighting in wrestling and game shows, which provided him with moments of respite and amusement. Known for his adeptness with his hands, he possessed an extraordinary ability to fix just about anything, a skill that made him a dependable figure and a source of wisdom for those around him.
Elder Odell Beck was a member Fountain of the Living Word Church under the leadership Pastor J and Sheila Skelton for 56 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Zelyard Beck and Everlean Stephen Beck, whose guidance and love shaped him into the man he became.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during a viewing at the Golden Gate Funeral Home in Dallas on March 3, 2025, from noon until 7:00 PM. Following this, a graveside service will be held at Lincoln Memorial Park in Dallas on March 4, 2025, beginning at 10:00 AM to honor a life well-lived and a spirit now set free.
As we reflect on the life of Odell Beck, we celebrate a man who embodied joy, resilience, and love. His presence will be deeply missed, yet the echo of his laughter and the warmth of his spirit will resonate within our hearts forever. May he rest in peace.
