Ola Mae Perkins, a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, peacefully entered into the presence of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, after a life filled with love, faith, and service. As it is written in Philippians 1:21, “For to me, to live is Christ, and to die is gain.”
At an early age, Ola Mae accepted Christ and was baptized at New Boggy Baptist Church in Waskom, Texas. Her faith was the cornerstone of her life, guiding her through every challenge and triumph. She continually sought to live as a good and faithful servant, always striving to reflect Christ’s love in her daily walk. As Matthew 25:23 reminds us, “Well done, good and faithful servant; you have been faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your Lord.”
Ola Mae was a proud alumna of East Texas State University, currently Texas A&M University-Commerce, where she earned her B.A. degree. Her passion for education was evident in her lifelong advocacy for students with disabilities, ensuring they received the support and opportunities they deserved. She was a woman of deep solitude and reflection, finding peace and inspiration in the arts. Her love for her granddaughter, Sparkle Perkins, was boundless, and she cherished every moment spent with her. Sparkle was the light of her life, and Ola Mae’s love and guidance will forever be etched in her heart.
Cherished memories of Ola Mae will forever remain in the hearts of her 100 year old mother, Essie D. Perkins of Marshall, Texas; her devoted daughter, Robbin Perkins Askew of Alaska; her granddaughter, Sparkle Perkins of Rowlett, Texas; her sister, Josie Perkins Williams (Henry) of Waskom, Texas; her brother, Dr. Rev. Charlie Lee Perkins (Maudette) of Fort Worth, Texas; and a host of nephews, nieces, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends. Ola Mae’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith, her love for her family, and her dedication to serving others.
Her legacy will continue to inspire all who were blessed to know her. In lieu of flowers or monetary donations, the family kindly requests that you choose an act of kindness in Ola Mae’s memory. This would be a fitting tribute to a woman who lived her life in service to others. May her soul rest in eternal peace, knowing she has fought the good fight, finished the race, and kept the faith.
