Otis Holley, Jr. entered life on January 24, 1941 in Lewisville, Texas, born to Ora (Vaughn) Holley and Otis Holley, Sr., both of whom preceded his in death and the ninth child born of 13 siblings. He attended public school in McKinney, Texas and graduated from Doty High School. Otis accepted Christ at an early age at Good Hope Baptist Church in McKinney, TX. He later joined the U.S. Army and was stationed in Panama where he met and married his wife Kathleen J. Waldrond and to this union three children were born.
Otis later began his career as a Truck driver with Bekins Moving & Storage in 1962. He moved his family to Dallas, TX and continued his career as a Truck driver for the next 50 years owning his own trucks working as a contractor until he retired in 2017. Otis provided many first job opportunities to young family members and friends to teach them responsibilities and to keep them out of harm’s way. Otis became the patriarch of the Holley family and coordinated the Holley Family Reunions for many years. Otis was a father figure to more than the three children he brought into the world. He showed loved to those he came in contact with and left mark everywhere he went. In his spare time, he enjoyed, fishing, barbecuing ribs and deep-frying turkeys for family and friends during the holidays, as well as picking up loved ones to visit with his eldest sister in McKinney, TX.
It was on the twenty-fourth of June in the year of two thousand twenty-two, when an angel of God descended upon this earth taking the beautiful soul of Otis Holley, Jr home to be at rest. Otis was proceeded in death by his parents and ten of his siblings. He leaves to cherish his memories wife of 60 years Kathleen of Desoto, TX; two sons, Leroy Holley (Adaliah) of Desoto, TX, Eddie Holley of Houston, TX; one daughter Judy Carthers (Tommy) of Houston, TX; two sisters Mary Davis of McKinney, TX and Linda Phillips (Dr. Aaron Phillips) of Dallas, TX; 6 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and others whole life he touched.
