Ovella Vernita “Nita” Reed, 75 gained her heavenly wings with her family by her side.
Ovella was born November 19, 1945 in Lubbock, Texas to Conway and Mary Baker. She graduated from Dunbar High School in 1964 and attend Drone Business College. Ovella met and married her husband in 1966, bringing a son to the marriage. There were 3 additional children born to the union.
Ovella retired from the Army Corp of Engineers is 2008 after over 30 years of civil service. She received numerous awards and recognitions during her tenure.
Ovella loved the Lord and Christian ministry. She served as Usher Board President of the Fort Worth District AME Church, President of the Usher Board, and Steward Pro Tem at Wesley Chapel AME Church. She served faithfully until her health failed. Ovella joined Restoration Church in 2012 under the tutelage of Derwin C. Harris.
Ovella was proceeded in death by her husband Tommy Reed, son Adrian Reed, and daughter Fuguria “Renee” Reed.
Ovella, entered eternal rest on Wednesday, December 28, 2020 and leaves to cherish her life: her son Roderick Baker; daughter Tricia Hayden (James) granddaughter La-Sheena Brooks; grandson Tayvin Reed; great granddaughter Hazel Reed; sisters Gladys Thompson and Mary Brown and a host of nieces and nephews.
