PATRICIA FORTSON

Patricia Ann Fortson was born in Dallas, Texas, December 18, 1948 to Mr., Leon Cortez Fortson Sr. and Ernestine Sneed Fortson.

She attended St. Peter’s Academy in Dallas where she excelled in her Academics Achieving high honors. Patricia loved learning about law, rights, and researched any subject matter to get the background and knowledge to speak intelligently. A walking book of knowledge.

Patricia was introduced to God at an early age where she attended with her family Shekinah Tabernacle Baptist Church before moving her membership to Bibleway Bible Church under the Leadership of the Great Dr. Eddie B. Lane, (Sr. Pastor) until God called him home. Patricia continued to serve under the new Leadership of Dr. Kevin Hawkins (Sr. Pastor), and continued to serve as a  member of the Senior Choir and a faithful Bible Study member. If Pat couldn’t attend, her Bible was open daily, and she was learning, teaching, and discussing over the telephone.

Patricia retired from the U.S Postal Service after more than 40 years of distinguished service. Actively involved in her Union the American Postal Workers Union, Patricia served as Trustee, Secretary, Treasurer for several terms, Steward, Delegate for many years, and the first Female Editor. Patricia served as OWCP and EEO Representative for several employees, winning many cases over the years. It was in these positions, Patricia was able to manifest her great humanitarian calling. “What you do for the least of mine, you do for ME” Patricia was NEVER tired from her efforts to help and console, even after she chose to retire. If you called she answered and assisted with cases in her retirement.

She Departed this Life May 30, 2022. She was preceded in death by her parents, Leon Cortez Fortson Sr. and Ernestine  Sneed Fortson; siblings, LaJeanne Carr, Leon Cortez Fortson Jr.;  daughter, Dalicia D’Nene Hoye; grandson, Kydell  Hoye.

Honoring her memory is son Kyron Ernest Hoye (Cheryl); fur babies, Oreo, Shorty, and Treat; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and so many family/close friends.
