Patsy Ann Mathis-Garnett, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, passed away on August 2, 2024. She was born to parents, Floyd D. and Verna Ruth Mathis on October 31, 1959.
Born and raised in Dallas, TX, Patsy was a proud graduate of W.H. Adamson High School. After high school, Patsy had a distinguished career in executive administration, accounting, and record-keeping, retiring from Prime Financial Services, a Methodist Hospital company, in 2020.
Patsy was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Floyd D. and Verna Ruth Mathis; her dear sons, Patrick McCleveland and Kendrick McCleveland; and her brother, Tommy Mathis. She is deeply missed by her loving and devoted husband, Eric Garnett, Sr.; daughters, Candis Nicole Mathis and Jennifer Desma Mathis; stepchildren, Eric Garnett, Jr. and Erica Garnett; siblings, Terry Mathis, Barbara Ann Mathis, Linda Sue Lewis, Larry Mathis, and Annette Kaiser; uncle, Roy Lee Adams, siblings-in-law, Billy Garnett, Willie Garnett, Patricia Scott, Carissa Garnett, and Lisa Willis, and a host family and friends.
Patsy’s legacy extends to her adoring grandchildren, Terrence Mathis, Ricky Means, Sabrina McCleveland, Malcolm McCleveland, Ethan McCleveland, Summer McCleveland, Asiah Mathis, Ashton Mathis, Kurama McCleveland, James Jackson, and Destiny Exscentico. Patsy was a significant figure in the lives of her nieces and nephews, Brandy Mathis, Antoine Lewis (Alena), Tiffany Bluitt, Larry Bluitt, Robert Gulley, and Xavier Kaiser.
Patsy had a remarkable gift for fashion. Her style was a symphony of elegance, creativity, and beauty. Her love for reading, movies, cooking, traveling, shopping, and family gatherings brought her joy throughout her life. Patsy’s warm smile, sense of humor, and vibrant spirit will be deeply missed but fondly remembered by everyone fortunate to know her.
