 Phillip Jerome Moore Jr. was born March 5, 1927 in Wortham,
Texas to the parents of the late Phillip Jerome Moore, Sr. and
Annie Moore. Â He passed away on Wednesday, September 14, 2016.
Phillip received his education in the Wortham Public Schools, Prairie
View A & M University (B. S. degree), Texas Southern UniversityÂ
(M.Ed. degree), school administration and principal certification at theÂ
University of Houston. He retired from the Houston ISD after serving
as an elementary principal. He worked 40 years as a teacher and
elementary principal. Â He did his student teaching at Prairie View A &Â Â
M College under Dr. Woolfolk before being called to serve his country. Â
He served two terms of service in the U. S. Navy.
Phillip was baptized at a very early age by his grandfather Rev. Cary
Moore at the Baptist Church in Wortham, Texas. Â He joined St. John
Baptist Church in 1958 under the pastorage of  Rev. B. E. Collie. Phillip
was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Ralph , his sister,
Mertis Lee Moore Stramler and his niece Sharon Ann Stramler. Â Phillip
never married but spent many years enjoying his holidays and
traveling with his family.
Precious memories are cherished by his faithful brother Vandine
Moore and wife Sallye Moore, his nephew Gregory Moore and wife
Juan Clara Moore, great nephews, Gregory Moore II and wife Lorena and
Preston Andrew Moore, great-great niece Clara Moore, great-great
nephew Cameron Preston Moore and two cousins Charlene Perry Maddox
and Willie Alvin Culton and other relatives  and friends.
