Pinkie Lee Smith, was born June 28, 1942 to the late Jimmie Lee Jones and Bertha Lee Jones Martin, in Grenada, Miss. Raised in a Christian home, she responded to the call of Discipleship, at a young age where she accepted Christ and was baptized at Second New Hope Baptist Church, in Grenada Miss. She received her education in Mississippi.
Pinkie worked for the Audubon Nature Institute, New Orleans City Zoo, in the Horticulture Division for 32 years. She enjoyed gardening, Gospel Music, raising and nurturing the children in her family and community. Her services to GOD, her church, family and community will serve as a living example to those who knew and loved her.
She has lived in New Orleans, Louisiana and Inglewood, California, touching many lives before relocating to Dallas, Texas. She placed her membership with New Hope Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Alfred Walker, Jr.
On June 8, 2018 at 11:41 p.m. the angels came and summoned Pinkie to come home where she will have eternal love, peace and comfort.
She leaves to cherish her precious memories: two sons, James Smith, Donnell Smith; two brothers, Kenneth Neal (Ravian) Fred Neal (Louzatic) one sister, Bettye Cyiark, two granddaughters, Jonquil Smith, Dontrece Johnson, four great grandchildren. A host of other relatives and friends.
She was proceeded in death by one son, Louis Smith.
Pinkie Lee love life and thanked the Lord every day for her many blessings. She was able to see all 5 generations. Relating to the songwriter, Pinkie NEVER COMPLAINED.
