Prentess James Cherry was born on December 28, 1965, in Garden City, Kansas, to Lewis and Janette Cherry Jr. He went home to the Lord on March 13, 2022, in Louisville, Kentucky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lewis and Janette Cherry Jr., son, Tre’ Lewis Cherry, two brothers Vernon Jones, Douglas Jones and nephew, Jarod Johnson.
Prentess grew up, in Great Bend, Kansas and graduated from high school there in 1985. He then attended Hutchinson CC, on a football scholarship. After college Prentess went back home and worked for the city. In 1988 he moved to Dallas, Texas with his Sister (Wilmagene) and family. He later returned to Kansas and worked at Cessna Aircraft, in Wichita for many years. Over the years he traveled between Texas, Kansas, Colorado and then Kentucky. Prentess was a hard worker and a skilled craftsman, with numerous certifications. He was employed by Delbert Mulhall & Sons, and Exact Metals, as a HVAC Technician, where he was liked by many. His interests included spending time with family and friends, barbecuing, eating and watching sports. He never met a stranger, always had a smile and he loved to laugh. We all love you and will truly miss you.
He is survived by three daughters, Ashley Campbell (Cody), Keira Owen (Jared) and Brittany Williams (Dcorian), four sons Alex Schreiber (Alysen), Dominic Schreiber, Nathaniel Cheney and, Elijah Cheney. Eight grandchildren, four sisters, Wilmagene Johnson, Charlotte Faye McClain Cornelius (Orville), Debra Trimble, Suzanne Singletary, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
