Chief Master Sergeant (Retired), Randolph Hobbs, Sr., 85, passed away on January 12, 2021 peacefully at Texas Health Resources with his family at his bedside. A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, he served 26 years of active duty. He accepted tours both stateside and abroad in Europe and Asia before retiring to Fort Worth, Texas in 1982. Randolph was born in West Columbia, Texas on July 3, 1935 to Robert Hobbs and Allinese Paul Blair. He was baptized as a child into the Saint Mary’s African Methodist Episcopal Church (A.M.E.) in Dancinger, Texas. From this religious foundation, he grew to become a man of strong Christian faith and spiritual belief that guided him throughout his life. He graduated from Charlie Brown High School and attended Prairie View A&M University with a football scholarship prior to joining the military. An ardent proponent of higher learning, Randolph earned a Master of Science Degree in Education from the University of Southern California. Following his military career, he established his own thriving real estate brokerage, Randy Hobbs Real Estate. Home ownership and real estate investment was his mission for every member of the community. And besides helping thousands of people realize their dream of home ownership, he loved them well by sharing words of wisdom not only in the business of real estate but also in the business of life. For forty years Randolph worked out his life and faith as a dedicated member of Carter Metropolitan Christian Methodist Episcopal (C.M.E.) Church in Fort Worth. There he offered his gifts of wisdom, understanding, and knowledge on the Building Fund Committee and the Board of Trustees. Ultimately Randolph was a devoted and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother, nephew and cousin; and he reached his strong loving arms beyond his immediate family to anyone who needed a father’s guidance and touch. He became “Dad”, “Chief”, “Pops”, or “Poppy” to anyone who entered his life. Though preceded in death by his parents and his son Enrique Ortell Hobbs, Randolph is survived by: his cherished wife of 64 years, Patsy Anne Hobbs (née Specht); his children Terryl Kendricks, Randolph Hobbs, Jr., Tokea Hobbs, and Ryan Hobbs; grandchildren Tasha Douglas (Winston), Mande Pannell, Cherise Strain, Enrique Hobbs, Jr., Rasheed Hobbs, Randy (Monty) Hobbs, Alexis Hobbs, Makayla Hobbs, and Kristopher Ridge; sixteen great grandchildren; his brother, Hershey Blair; one sister-in-law, Verna Greene; one brother-in-law, Charles V. Specht, Esq., (Betty) three cousins, Gilbert Paul, Sondra Bonner and Elmira Paul; and a host of nieces, nephews. All of these feel grateful to have known and been loved by Randolph Hobbs.
