Robert Bennett was the only born child to Robbie Miller and LeRoy Bennett in Blanchard, LA on February 12, 1940. He attended the Louisiana school system and was baptized as a child at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Blanchard. He moved to Dallas, Tx when he was 20 years old.
He later met his loving wife, Elester Tate in Dallas, Tx in 1961. They were married June 1, 1963. To this union was born two children, Jeffery Tate and Shelia Bennett. They were married for 54 years prior to Elester's passing in 2017.
Robert worked in construction and had a passion for building and fixing houses. He remodeled and expanded the home he and Elester lived in for 61 years. He was always the person to call when anyone needed help, or any work done on their home. He would give you the shirt off his back to help anyone in need. He loved cars & spending time with family whether it was playing dominos or just sitting around talking about the good old days. If you asked Robert what the most important thing was in his life, it would be FAMILY.
Robert was proceeded in death by his wife, Elester Bennett; his mother, Robbie Miller; his son, Jeffery Tate; daughter-in law, Janie Tate.
He leaves to cherish his memory: his daughter, Shelia Bennett; his sister; three grandchildren, ShaQuita, Robert and ShaMaiya Bennett; two great grandchildren, Reagan and KaLani; cousins/best friends; John Eubanks Sr "Jimbo" and Lanny Hines Sr "Bubba"; cousins, Paralee Ross "Shorty" and James Miller; and other relatives and friends that loved him dearly.
