Robert was born, September 3, 1950 to Alma Jo Adams and Benny Weathersbee in Fort Worth Texas. Robert grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and attended Fort Worth ISD schools James E Guinn Elementary, Morningside Middle, I.M. Terrell High and later transferred to Polytechnic High School, where he graduated in 1969. After graduation, Robert married his high school sweetheart Patricia Quigley on September 4, 1969 and they welcomed a beautiful baby girl, LaRhonda.
Robert was later drafted into the United States Army in the summer of 1970. After serving in the U.S. Army, Robert and Patricia welcomed another beautiful baby girl, LaSheena. Robert went on to attend Texas Christian University and earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Radio, TV Broadcasting. While attending Texas Christian University, Robert and Patricia were blessed with a handsome boy, Robert Jr. Robert continued his studies while being active in the Air Force R.O.T.C. and was commissioned as an Air Force officer upon graduating from Texas Christian University. He went on to serve in the United States Air Force and while serving his country, Robert earned a Master of Counseling Degree from South Dakota State University.
After ending his Air Force career, he began a new career as a professor, and counselor at Tarrant County Junior College, now Tarrant County College. He ended his career as the director of special services after serving students for 18 years. Robert went on to earn a Master of Divinity Degree from Brite Divinity School at Texas Christian University in 1993. Upon earning his MDIV he founded Trinity Temple Community Church, where he served as senior pastor.
Robert and Patricia later welcomed Joe Bell into their family and gained a bonus son. Robert later went back into the field of education and worked for Crowley Independent School District as a counselor and administrator, while pursuing his doctorate degree in education at Capella University and pastoring full time. Robert retired from education in 2011 and continued pastoring Trinity Temple Community Church, later changing the name to New Jerusalem Tabernacle of Worship where he served until 2019.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Alma Jo Miles and father, Benny Weathersbee.
He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Patricia Young; children, LaRhonda Young, LaSheena Wynn (Stacey), Robert Young Jr. (Antoinette), and Joe Bell; grandchildren, Christopher Gordon, Lauryn Hoyle, Rahvian Young, Kalaya Lofton; great grandchildren, Cayden Gordon, Jaycii London Davis; brothers, Joseph Young, Frank Echols; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family.
