Robert Paris, son of the late Arthur Paris, Sr., and Mary Washington-Paris, was born on April 7, 1949 in Albuquerque, NM.
He attended the public schools and was a graduate of Albuquerque High School (AHS) where he was a Letterman in baseball and football. He was named Mr. AHS in his senior year. He also attended Mountain View College in Dallas, TX.
Robert was an Army Veteran, serving in Vietnam from 1968 - 1971; when he was honorably discharged. He retired from the US Post Office in Dallas, TX with 27 years’ service where he worked as a Mail Handler and also a Facilitator with the Quality of Work Life Team.
He was previously married to his grade school sweetheart and to this union he was blessed to have Dwight and Monica.
He was a lifelong member of Grant Chapel A.M.E .Church where he served as a Trustee and was a member of the Chancel Choir. Upon returning to Dallas, TX he joined Smith Chapel A.M.E. Church where he was active until his death.
Robert was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Sr., in 1983, mother, Mary, in 1999, sisters Jacqueline Stevenson and Evelyn Johnson, nephews, Reverend Terrence Stone, Robert “Bobby” Clayton, Ronaldo Stephenson and a special great-niece, Paris Clayton.
He is survived by his loving and devoted daughter, Monica Gail, Dallas, TX; son, Dwight Holmes, Albuquerque, NM; grandsons, Darius Carlton and Aaris Holmes, both of Albuquerque, NM; brother, Arthur Paris, Jr., Desoto, TX; sisters, Tommie Clayton and Rena Bendaw (Harold) both of Albuquerque, NM; and a host of devoted nieces, nephews, cousins and friends throughout the United States.
