August 3, 1954, Robert (Roy) and Thelma Powell of Detroit, Michigan welcomed there first and only child naming him Robert Leroy Powell, Jr. They loved him so and always made sure he knew this. Rob was proceeded by his parents.
Robert (Bobby/Rob) attended Catholic School and graduated from Cass Tech High School. He joined the United States Navy immediately following high school graduation and remained for 22 years, retiring in 1994 with an Honorable Discharge with advanced Electronic Warfare skills.
After becoming a civilian, he started a full-time career with Tandy Corporation as a RadioShack Store Associate. During his tenure, Rob advanced from Store Associate, to Store Manager, to District Manager receiving several outstanding performance awards. After leaving RadioShack, he joined AT&T as a Customer Solution Representative where he later became an Engineer where he remained until his health began to decline.
In 2001, he met Ruby the love of his life and they were married in 2002. Rob LOVED his cars….from Cadillacs to Corvettes. His love of music – The Temptations, Earth, Wind and Fire, Sade, Average White Band, Michael Franks, Michael McDonald just to name a few. It didn’t stop there….he was geeky and built his own computers. History was also his love.
He is a member of Mosier Valley Lodge No. 103 – Free and Accepted Masons. Joining February 13, 2012 and raised September 10, 2012.
Their combined family of two daughters, Bonnie and Crystal; two sons, Deprimethon and Everett; grandchildren; great grandchildren; two very special cousins, Claudine and Toni; and a host of relatives and friends..
