Rodney Dwight Morgan was born on April 22, 1947 at Baylor Hospital in Dallas, Texas to the parentage of Willie Morgan and Ruth Taylor Morgan, both of whom preceded him in death. Rodney grew up in Dallas, where he attended Dallas Independent Schools, K.B. Polk Elementary and graduated from Booker T. Washington Technical High School, with honors. He also attended El Centro College. He later joined the United States Air Force where he studied to become an airline pilot. He served from June 24, 1966- January 18, 1967 and received an honorable discharge. After his discharge from the Air Force, Rodney returned to Dallas where he married his high school sweetheart, Carrie Stewart. Rodney would remain in Dallas until he moved to California. Rodney was always willing to help anyone who came into his path that struggled with addiction, and would become a mentor to many on their journeys to sobriety, while living in California. He had a love for music and this led him to mastering the guitar which he played for his own enjoyment and to entertain others. Rodney became ill in his later years and would succumb to illness on December 29, 2020 at the age of 73 in Berkley, California. He was preceded in death by his parents, Willie Morgan and Ruth Morgan, and his daughter, Keysha Gibson and his brother, James Morgan. He leaves to mourn his death a host of family and friends including his sisters, Sharon Morgan Thornton (Eddie Thornton), Pamela Morgan (Dallas, TX), 5 nephews, 1 niece, and 3 grandchildren.
