Ronald Manford West Jr. was born September 17, 1959 in Herrin, Illinois and assumed his godfathers name Tango on that day. He went to grade school in Herrin, Chicago, and Decatur, Illinois. He graduated from high school at Stephen Decatur High School in Decatur, Illinois. His father taught him how to play the piano and organ at age10. From then he taught himself how to play the guitar, drums, and the bass guitar that people say
he could make talk to you. He has been a member of Carver Heights Baptist Church for over twenty-five years and served as the bass guitar musician of the choir. Tango started playing in the band with his father at age sixteen. Along with other bands he played with Big Twist and the Mellow Fellows that consisted of his father and uncle for many years and traveled all over the world.
