Roosevelt Emanuel “Zig” Zeigler of Grand Prairie, Texas departed this life on June 27, 2023 after a brief illness. Roosevelt was born in Newport News, Virginia on November 4, 1944 to Alonzo Zeigler, Sr. and Catherine Butts Zeigler, the youngest of five children. His siblings include Alonzo Jr. Zeigler, James Zeigler, Jean Stubbs and Shirley (Ralph) Chambers. In 1970, he happily married Alice James and soon became a family of four. He attended Hampton Institute and honorably served his country as a lieutenant in the United States Army Corps of Engineers during the Vietnam War. He later worked at Ford Motor Company, Borg Warner and Thrall Car as an Industrial Engineer. Roosevelt is preceded in death by his mother, father, brothers, a nephew Arnez Stubbs and loyal friend, Milton Warren. He is survived by his children Dr. Neal (Jacquetta) Zeigler and Dr. Katherine Zeigler, ex-wife Alice J. Zeigler, grandchildren Kirsten and Alexander, his sisters, nephews William Stubbs, Ralph “Beave” Chambers and Sean Chambers, niece Tresa Chambers, and other family and friends. His memorial service will occur on August 18, 2023 at 1:15pm at DFW National Cemetery with military honors in Dallas, Texas.
