Ross Sterlin Sanders was born to the late Hattie Sanders. Ross was born in Shiloh community of Rusk County of the state of Texas on Monday August 22, 1930. Ross attended Shiloh County for 2 years then moved to Pine Hill of which he attended Pine hill Elementary School for five years. Then finished high school in May of 1948. On June 2, Ross enlisted Into the United States Army and began basic training in Ft. Knox Ky. Then on to additional training to cooking school for eight weeks. Ross received orders and shipped from Stockton California to overseas duty to Tokonoma Japan with the 8th Army Anti-Aircraft Division for 23 months. Then on to Korea for 13 months. Ross later tour of duty from overseas to stateside duty to California and then to Ft. Bliss Texas. Ross was honorably discharged on June 19, 1952 he received the Army of Occupation Medal Japan and Korean service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars.
After discharge Ross moved to Houston TX. Ross began employment with Grocery Supply Company for 13 years. Then moved to Dallas TX. And gained employment with Neuhoff packing Company for 25 years. His last employer was Oak Farms Dairies for 24 years in which he retired. Ross was preceded in death by sister’s Ivy Lee, Rosie & Sara, 8 brothers, Tom, Dan, Clearance, Cleave, Monte, Morris, Doc, Fred. Ross Sterlin Sanders meet the Love of his life in 1953, his, rib, his wife and his queen Minnie Nellvin Sanders. They were blessed with over 67 years of a beautiful and blessed matrimony. Through there unity were the blessings of four children. 2 sons and 2 daughters. Ross was a loving husband father, grandfather, and great-great grandfather. Ross was a Godly man of faith. Ross gave his life to Christ at a mature age and continued serving in ministry through Christ as a long time Deacon in ministry serving faithfully in "Christ'' touching so many others with the good news of "Christ". His service in ministry included serving at William Memorial temple C.O.G.I.C. under the leadership of Bishop R.E. Woodard in 1960 until 1966 then moved his family to Dallas.
Then he served at the Super City of Refuge under the Pastoral leadership of Superintendent Grady Thompson in 1980. Then Deacon Sanders united with Superintendent Willie Cobbs at the St. John C.O.G.I.C. until 1993- then back to City of Refugee until the passing of Superintendent Grady Thompson. Deacon Sanders and wife Mother Sanders joined the great Deliverance Chapel C.O.G.I.C under the Pastorship of the late Superintendent Elijah Kelly. To present day serving as Deacon under the Pastoral Leadership of Superintendent Edward Taylor who assumed leadership of the historic Deliverance Chapel where he and Mother Sanders served faithfully until his health challenges occurred. He also made mentioned after retirement his role fulfilling his "honey do list'' with the Love of his life Mother Sanders who serve as church mother at Deliverance Chapel. Ross wore many hats as a Sunday school teacher, trustee, usher, parking attendant, counselor and Deacon. Ross humbly served in ministry as a leader with his loving wife, Ross loved studying Gods word.
Just some of Ross lifetime achievements included not only being an honorable veteran of the United States army. He was devoted and dedicated employee. Ross love for family contributed to celebrating the true meaning of family values, hosting family reunions and family gatherings even to this day. Ross distinct voice and character was like no other. He was an example of strength, calmness, and unity.
Ross life and legacy is the Epiphany of Well done thou good and faithful servant welt done. His legacy and seeds of a blessed man continues to multiply. Ross, leave to cherish his memory a loving wife Minnie Nellvin Sanders of Dallas TX, his children Junior Ray Sanders and wife Debra of Dallas TX, Beverly Sue King and husband Ronald King of Dallas TX, Ronnie Sanders and wife Tina Oak Ridge TX., Brenda Sanders and Husband Ricky of Dallas, TX. and they raised their grandson Ray Anthony Ellison as their very own. Ross celebration of life includes 2S grandchildren, S5 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren of home he loved so much. They were his Joy. A host of nieces, nephews, cousin's family
and friends.
