RUBY DANIELS

All who came to know Ruby Jewel Daniels knew that when she smiled, it was real.  She did not possess the pageantry of pretend.  “I’m just me,“ was her calling card.

Her straightforward personality was unmistakably present, but behind that soft force, there was always a touch of warmth, love, and security.

She relied on those qualities as a supportive wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend.

This woman of boundless faith was born into the home of the late Jasper Nash and Jewel Thomas Nash, July 3, 1941 in Sulphur Springs, Texas. Ruby and her family were longtime members of the Morning Chapel Baptist Church where her father served as a deacon and she as a member of the youth choir. Ruby graduated from Douglas High School.  Not long after that, she moved to Dallas where she met and married the love of her life, Lindsey E. Daniels.

To that marriage, there were three children: Dennis, Keith and Sheila Daniels. Ruby’s work experience ultimately shifted to her home, where she took pride in being a supportive wife and stay-at-home mom. Part of her family’s joy included their longtime membership to Greater South Central Baptist Church where her husband serves as a deacon and she served as a deaconess and faithful choir member.

Her journey through this life ended July 2, 2020, just one day before her 79th birthday.

She leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life: her devoted husband of 57 years, children, daughter-in-law, Vernie Daniels (Dennis); grandchildren, Lindsay Daniels, Dennis Daniels, Jr. (Apryl), Bryant Daniels (Azaria), Colin Daniels; two great grandchildren, Semaj Hollins and Dennis Daniels, III (Tre); sister, Frances Dial; brother, Weldon Bozeman; a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Ruby Jewel, affectionately known by her husband as “RJ,” will be deeply missed.
