Sonya Michelle Brooks, born on February 22, 1965, in Dallas, Texas, departed this life on January 2, 2025. A loving and devoted wife, mother, and daughter, Sonya touched many hearts with her compassionate spirit and unwavering faith.
Sonya was known for her fun-loving personality and her heart of gold. She dedicated her life to helping others, raising her two cousins with love and care, and serving her community with strong Christian values at St. Paul Baptist Church, she inspired countless young individuals with her guidance and warmth. Her commitment to her faith was further exemplified as a deaconess and a cherished choir member, where her beautiful voice united congregants in worship.
In her role as a mother, Sonya was actively involved in her children's lives. She took great pride in being a "mom" for the football team at Bethany College, where she nurtured young athletes with encouragement and support. Her love for her children, Amber, Raven, and Cleo III, defined her life, and she always strived to be a source of strength and inspiration for them.
Sonya is survived by her loving husband, Cleophus Jr. She was the cherished daughter of Pastor David and Lela Johnson, who instilled in her the values and faith that guided her throughout her life.
The loss of Sonya leaves a void in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know her. Her legacy of compassion and love will continue to resonate, reminding us of the profound impact one individual can have on the lives of many.

The funeral service will take place on January 18, 2025, at St. Paul Baptist Church, located at 1600 Pear Street, Dallas, TX 75215, starting at 11:00 AM, concluding with heartfelt remembrances of a life lived with unparalleled love and purpose.
