VERNIA LEE JONES

VERNIA LEE JONES, a beloved mother, dedicated nurse, and cherished member of the community, passed away on November 30, 2024 at the age of 92. Born on February 13, 1932, Vernia lived a life filled with love, service, and devotion to her family and her calling as a healthcare professional.

Throughout her remarkable journey Vernia was known for her outspoken nature and caring spirit. She was not just a mother to eight children, three of whom preceded her in death, but also a guiding force of strength and support to all who knew her. She devoted many years of her life serving as a nurse in the Labor and Delivery unit at Parkland Hospital, where her gentle touch and compassionate care made a lasting impact on countless families.

Vernia’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. A God-fearing woman, she found solace and strength in prayer, often sharing her spiritual insights with those around her. Her joyful nature shined through in her favorite pastime—playing bingo, an activity she enthusiastically embraced, fostering camaraderie and joy among friends and family.

A viewing will be held in her honor on December 10, 2024, from 12:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas, located at 4155 South R. L. Thornton Freeway, Dallas, TX 75224. Friends and loved ones are invited to come together to celebrate Vernia’s life and share their cherished memories.

A funeral service will follow on December 11, 2024, beginning at 1:00 PM, also at Golden Gate Funeral Home-Dallas. This gathering will honor Vernia’s legacy, a legacy filled with love, care, and devotion to her family and community.
