**Obituary**
On July 31, 2024, Virgie Durell Woods, also lovingly known as "Aunt Duckie", bid farewell to this world in Gatesville Texas. Born on April 8, 1960, in Dallas, Texas, she graced the lives of many with her warm presence and remarkable personality.
Virgie dedicated a significant part of her life to a career at Bank of America in the mortgage department. Beyond her professional endeavors, she was a proud alumna of Skyline High School and El Centro College. Her commitment to education reflected her desire for continuous growth and learning.
Virgie was also a faithful member of First Baptist of Hamilton Park in Richardson, Texas under the leader of Dr. Gregory Foster. She was a member of the sanctuary choir and women's choir. Virgie was also known for culinary gift working in the Kitchen Ministry. Serving others with a smile and words of encouragement was a part of her DNA.
Those who were fortunate enough to know Virgie will remember her as a devoted Women of God with a beautiful soprano voice that resonated in the choir. Her outspoken nature, combined with a touch of class and unwavering drive, made her stand out wherever she went. Family always came first for Virgie, evident in her role as an amazing cook and the designated family babysitter. She was known for her generosity and caring nature. Virgie also took pride in her fashion with the emphasis on her hair and nails.
One of Virgie's most cherished legacies lies in the love and care she lavished upon her nieces and nephews. Her proudest accomplishments included achieving retirement to savor life's joys fully. The impact she had while raising her nieces and nephews will be everlasting.
Virgie had a profound love for BIG RED SODA—a little quirk that brought joy to those around her whenever she indulged in her favorite drink.
In honoring Virgie's life, a Celebration of Life service will take place on August 9, 2024, at First Baptist of Hamilton Park in Richardson, Texas.
Virgie was predeceased by her parents Theo and Odie Woods Sr. She leaves behind a legacy cherished by her surviving siblings: Theo Woods Jr., Harold (HE) Woods, Vernell Asenime, Anita Woods, Pat Garner, Annie Woods, Betty Woods, and Kaye Woods. Additionally, she is survived by special nieces Theonna Johnson and Marlonda Taylor along with numerous other relatives and friends who held a special place in her heart.
As we mourn the loss of Virgie Durell Woods from our earthly realm, let us find solace in the memories we shared with this remarkable soul who touched our lives profoundly. May she rest in eternal peace knowing that her kindness and love live on in all those she cared for deeply.
